Residents without Internet access can visit the East Haven Town Hall or the East Haven Police Department to obtain a parking permit in person, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. Once an account is created, residents complete the registration and provide a proof of residency (driver’s license, vehicle registration, tax or utility bill, property deed, mortgage bill, or rental or lease agreement), the application will be reviewed within 72 hours and if accepted, residents will receive a confirmation email. In early 2020, Carfora tasked the East Haven Police Department (EHPD) with researching options to alleviate the parking issues for beach residents in the summer months and within 24 hours of launching the program, more than 350 residents registered for permits through the Upsafety portal. The Town of East Haven recently launched its Permit Parking Program with a goal of “intensive parking improvements in the beach area,” according to Mayor Joseph Carfora. East Haven Beach visitors have a new parking system.
